Jaguar designed the XE to answer a specific question: can a British performance saloon compete on equal terms with the Germans in the executive car segment? The answer was a car built on an aluminium-intensive platform, lighter than almost anything in its class, with a rear-wheel-drive character that the 3 Series and C-Class could not naturally replicate. The XE was never the most practical choice in the segment. It was always the most interesting one.
The 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel is well-suited to the XE's character — responsive enough to feel eager, efficient enough that the driving experience doesn't come at a cost. The automatic gearbox manages ratios without fuss. Inside, black leather and a panoramic sunroof give the compact cabin a sense of occasion that the XE's exterior proportions promise and the interior delivers. Jaguar's cabin quality at this generation was a meaningful step forward from what came before it.
A second-owner, Delhi-registered example at 90,000 km. A Jaguar saloon at a price that makes the proposition straightforward. Available for private inspection in Delhi NCR.
